Overview of the course
On completion of the module, you will gain a greater understanding of how you can enhance the care of patients with respiratory conditions. This course covers the latest best practices and clinical approaches to managing respiratory patients, ideal for healthcare professionals seeking to specialise in respiratory care or who have already specialised in respiratory care.
This course is offered as a level 6 or level 7 module (20 credits) and is accredited by the University of West London.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module you will be able to
- Critically explore and apply the knowledge and skills required to facilitate effective problem solving and decision making in order to respond to the changing needs of respiratory patients
- Reflect on a respiratory patient care experience and critically evaluate the processes and outcome of that care
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the psychosocial and physical management of care of a respiratory patient.
- Analyse the evidence for pharmacological management of patients with respiratory disease.
- Analyse key policies in relation to respiratory care.
Course lead
The module lead is Iain Wheatley, Frimley Health Nurse Consultant for Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation and trust NMP lead. Alongside Iain, this course will be delivered by our multi-professional clinical specialists from FHFT.
Target audience
Registered healthcare professionals (NMC, HCPC, GMC, GPC) working at enhanced, advanced, or consultant levels of practice. Candidates must be working in a setting where they encounter patients with respiratory conditions across any setting, including primary care, community, social care, hospice, and secondary care.
