Overview of the course
The FHFT Education Academy has partnered with clinical cancer care specialists at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust to develop a series of concise video modules, accompanied by e-learning, focused on the essentials of cancer care. These bite-sized videos are freely accessible to healthcare professionals working in any health or care setting.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will:
- Understand common oncology emergencies such as suspected neutropenic sepsis, metastatic spinal cord compression, malignant hypercalcemia, and superior vena cava obstruction.
- Recognise toxicities associated with systemic anticancer therapies.
- Manage complications related to central venous access devices.
- Support communication and documentation of cancer care via the UKONS triage tool.
- Gain an introduction to the Acute Oncology Competency Passport.
