Overview of the course
Our in-person study days provide an excellent opportunity to understand more about the fundamentals of cancer care.
Please note – this course is only available for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust staff.
Learning outcomes
On successful attendance of this study day, candidates will be able to:
- Identify the role of cancer specialist nurses such as AOS, Lung, and Haem clinical nurse specialists.
- Identify what you should do in oncology emergencies such as suspected neutropenic sepsis and metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC).
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of nutrition and oncology dieticians in cancer care.
- Understand what Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) is and how to manage SACT adverse effects.
- Understand where to find Oncology and Haematology Clinical Guidelines – both local and national.
- Signpost to further cancer care educational resources, pathways, and frameworks.
